New England Harvester Tool

Smart Garden Planner

Not sure how many tomato plants will actually fit in that 4×8 bed alongside your peppers and basil? That's exactly what this planner is for. Add your beds, pick your crops, and let the tool do the math — it figures out how many plants of each variety your space can realistically support, then draws you a map so you can see it all laid out before planting day.

Each circle or icon represents one plant. Rows reflect realistic spacing within each crop's section. Plants are inserted accoring to height (tallest to the left) so you can plant with out overshadowing the other plants.

How Counts Work
Total assigned square footage ÷ spacing per plant gives the plant count (for example 32 sq ft ÷ 8 sq ft = 4 tomato positions). The map lays those out in rows using rectangular spacing so footprint matches density, not only a square √(spacing)×√(spacing) grid.
This is a planning estimate. Variety, pruning style, soil fertility, and local conditions can all affect real spacing needs.
